Request Funding
Application Process for Funding From the Friends of Mitchell Park
Mitchell Park is a public park, owned and operated by Greenport Village. The Friends of Mitchell Park (FoMP) is an independent nonprofit organization established to promote and support educational, artistic and cultural activities, assemblies, or projects in the park. We will review funding requests that are consistent with our mission, and which benefit the public.
Process to request funding:
-
Applicants should first get approval from the Greenport Village Board of Trustees for any events, activities or public assemblies. Go to the Village website to find that Village Public Assembly Permit Application.
-
Funding requests are made to the FoMP board, using the online funding application form or by downloading the editable funding application form file, filling it out, and submitting by email.
-
Once approved by the Village, FoMP board members review funding requests at their next regularly scheduled meeting, held on the first Monday of each month.
-
If funding requests are time-sensitive, applicants are encouraged to reach out directly to the FoMP board so we may consider the circumstances.
-
Board members decide if an activity can be funded and at what level. The board may return an application if members have questions about the proposal or if the application is incomplete.
-
Funding applicants may be asked to attend a board meeting or, time permitting, to meet separately with one or more board members to discuss the proposed activity.
-
Our board may also request that the project leader for an approved project provide periodic progress reports.
Funding applicants who have questions or need more information before applying to the Village Board for review are encouraged to contact the FoMP. We welcome discussion of your ideas before applying to the Village for a permit.
Applicants will need to show if additional funding sources have been identified and/or sought, and the outcome of those proposals.
If funding is approved:
-
The FoMP informs applicants, in writing, of the terms of disbursement for the funds. No funds are distributed prior to Village Board approval.
-
FoMP reimburses documented expenses as they occur when submitted with an invoice.
-
All promotions and publicity related to a F0MP-funded project shall acknowledge the FoMP and include our logo on all materials. Use the downloadable logo provided here.
