DANCES IN THE PARK

​Here we go again! Monday Night Dances In The Park is the annual event that makes Greenport famous! The Friends of Mitchell Park is happy to be one of the sponsors. Join us every Monday night in July and August to enjoy music and dancing in Mitchell Park.
SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARK
​
This is our third year to help support Northeast Stage's production of Shakespeare in the Park in Greenport: Much Ado About Nothing, August 2nd, 3rd and 4th. See more information here.
DISCOVERING AMISTAD
​
The Friends of Mitchell Park, with the generous support of the Village of Greenport (as always), sponsored the tallship Amistad in a visit to Mitchell Park Marina on June 14-17, 2018. The Amistad is replica of the Spanish schooner of the same name. The nonprofit organization, Discovering Amistad (http://discoveringamistad.org/), operates the ship and offers educational programs about the ship and its history of the capture, and ultimate release, of the Mende people of Sierra Leone and their long-fought struggle for freedom. We provided classroom lessons and sails on the tallship for Greenport and Oysterponds 5th, 6th and 7th graders, as well as public sails and free dockside tours over the weekend. We were fortunate to have mostly good weather for these events (some of the school students were rained on, but maintained their interest, good humor and enthusiasm throughout!). ONE GREENPORT FESTIVAL

For the second year, Friends of Mitchell Park joined the Village of Greenport to support the One Greenport Cultural Festival. It took place in Mitchell Park on June 3, 2018, 1-4 PM, with a parade and bagpiper starting at 1PM from the gazebo on Main Street to Mitchell Park. Get more information and see photos here. FALL FOLK FESTIVAL
